The second picture was after putting in a Husky upside down front fork. It got a pretty high clearance. The whole weekend I spent riding on the beach in some strange weather: Ice cold, very strong winds and sunshine in between very dark clouds. It was organized by the Dutch XT/SR500 club. 1986 Honda CH250 Spacy/Elite: the rim
I bought a simple 10x8 10 inch steel rim to find out how much clearance I've got between the engine. It's time to decide what tyre to use. A quad tyre will definitely have the looks, but handling will be worse. A scooter tyre like a 130/70-10 will end up being 220/50-10 I guess and will reduce top end speed.
The hub I bought was a pre-sale offer, so I'm still anxiously waiting...

Honda CH250 Spacy/Elite quick shots
A few quick shots after cleaning up the scoot. Unfortunately too occupied with serious business to post.
I did order a nice 10x8-10 inch rim and the ATR hub will soon be shipped from LA. Fatty time!

project#4: the ceramic exhaust
For a while I have kept myself busy trying to make a ceramic muffler/exhausts. Technically I should be possible for it can stand the heat. Esthetically it could be mind-blowing, just throwing on the pottery wheel any shape you like. The only challenge is to find a solution for the vibration when you driving, but my guess is it is possible.
My first idea was to make it a cast porcelain exhaust. The bright white in contrast with the black soot.
So far I've made a casting mould and casted a few,but the shrinkage of 16% and the total height of almost 60cm didn't give any usable result.
The next step is to press mould a few with a low shrinkage clay. I have to try and keep the walls thin and strong.
